The side effects of olive leaf extract:
Olive Leaves have been used safely for thousands of years. This is a natural plant product, not a drug. The only known rare side-effect that has been noted from the use of olive leaf extract is the possibility of a Herxheimer reaction which is the rapid die-off of a large number of harmful fungi/virus that suddenly release toxins which then may trigger an immune response, similar to an allergic or flu-like reaction that may last for a day or more. If this reaction is experienced and becomes too uncomfortable, the level of use can be reduced or stopped until the reaction disappears. Some doctors believe that a Herxheimer reaction is an excellent response for an anti-fungal treatment.* This reaction is not very common. People who are using this product at a level of 1-2 capsules/day and believe that they are experiencing the Herxheimer reaction, are most likely mistaken. Application and suggested uses of olive leaf extract:

For maintenance level support:
Dietary support may be needed to protect you against resistant strains of bacteria, fungi, and viruses.* Take 2 to 4 olive leaf extract capsules per day for maintenance level support.

Take 3 olive leaf extract capsules 3X per day for a week to ten days.

For antifungal support:*
The suggested use is two olive leaf extract capsules 3X per day for up to six months; or in more severe cases, up to twelve months.
Olive leaf extract can be taken with or between meals; although it is preferable to be taken one half hour before meal time.

For throat irritations:*
You can open an olive leaf extract capsule, dissolve the powder in 4 oz. of warm water, and gargle and swallow to help soothe your throat.

For skin irritations:*
The powder from the olive leaf extract capsule can also be applied topically directly onto external skin irritations. Carefully open one capsule and apply a small amount of powder directly on the skin. (A drop of water can be added to the powder if you prefer to use as a paste.) Gently rub the powder into the skin. The skin will absorb the powder and its light green natural coloring. (The color will wash off later with soap and water.)

For irritations of the mouth or gums:*
Pack some olive leaf extract powder directly onto the irritated tissue and allow it to slowly dissolve.
